Qigong for the Lungs III

Water & Fire Meet Qigong - Great Bird Spreads its Wings Qigong

Guided by Peter Francis Cunneen, MATCM & Claire C Cunneen, CIP

The Qigong exercises in this video can be used preventively as part of a Lung strengthening program or therapeutically if you have a current or recent infection.

The exercises however are not suitable during acute bronchitis or during an asthma attack where you should let yourself rest and stay calm. This is a self-help regimen not proposed as a substitute for medical attention. If you have a high or continuing fever, compromised breathing or other serious symptoms, please contact a medical professional.

The first Qigong exercise, Water & Fire Meet, is good for invigorating the flow of energy in the chest to dissolve phlegm and reduce cough. Use it for any cough or bronchial infection with chest tightness or congestion.

The second Qigong exercise, The Great Bird Spreads its Wings, opens the chest and helps your lungs breathe deeply and fully. Perform it regularly to build up lung capacity debilitated by deep respiratory illness, extended bed rest or a sedentary lifestyle.

To learn the movements, we recommend that you watch first our bilingual English –French video, and then replay the video to practice the exercise, until you feel confident to do it by yourself.

Both exercises are part of the Ni family Eight Treasures Qigong. For more details, consult Dr Mao Shing Ni’s wonderful book Secrets of Self-Healing, Eight Treasures Level II DVD or our Chi Rivers Qigong classes program.

Looking forward to meeting again for our next Home Practice Qigong!
